School Holiday Activities in Autumn 2023 – Central West, Orange, Oberon, Bathurst, Cowra, Forbes, Parkes and Mudgee Family fun outdoors in the autumn by throwing fallen leaves up in the air.

The Autumn School Holidays are approaching and it’s forecast to be warmer and dryer temperatures this year, so here’s what’s approaching around the Central West region.

Here’s our suggestion list of what’s on and adventures to participate in during the Autumn/Easter period in the Central West; Orange, Bathurst, Oberon, Bathurst, Cowra, Forbes and Parkes. We hope this inspires you, though this is not an extensive list.

1. Explore Mayfield Gardens in Oberon during the Autumn festival (April 1 – 25) where the full private gardens will be open to the public. There is a delicious paddock to plate cafe there too. Book tickets here.

2. Book you and your kids into a Garden to Plate Masterclass in Orange.

Learn the art of veggie bed preparation & planting, ongoing maintenance specific to our unique cool climate.

3. It’s super movie watching weather – keep your eye out for films being released like ‘Argonuts’ (G),  ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ (PG), ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ (M), running at your local cinemas; Orange, Bathurst, Cowra, Mudgee.

4. The Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail kicks off on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April from 10-4pm.

5. Tennis camps: Most local centres have tennis camps running; here are a few to mention;

Canowindra Tennis Club: Camps will be running from 11 April from 1-3:00pm. $40 per day. Bring morning tea, drinks. Tennis rackets available to borrow or to buy. Cowra Tennis Club: Camps will be running from 11-12th April from 9-11:30am. $40 per day or $70 for both days). Bring morning tea, drinks. Tennis rackets available to borrow or to buy. Orange Indoor Tennis has camps running on both weeks; Tues 11th – Wed 12th. Time is 9-1pm for $75 pp (Daily rate – $35pp)  and Wed 19th April – Fri 21th, Time is 9-12pm each day. Forbes Tennis Club is outdoors on the cnr Church and Bandon Streets will be running tennis camp from weeks; Thursday 13th April – Friday 14th April from 9-1pm and Monday 17th through till 21st April and each day is a flat fee of $20 / per child (For a third child $5 discount per day). 6. Pinot & Picasso is a lovely way to activate creativity and right brain play. There are some family friendly classes taking place over the School Holidays:-

Family Friendly Pepi the Platypus – Sunday April 16th, 2pm-5pm $59
You Wish – Saturday April 15th, 11am – 2pm $49
Kids Crush – Saturday April 22nd, 11am-1pm $49
Pinot and Picasso recommends kids sessions for 7+
Parents are not required to stay but can purchase tickets if they wish to paint.

7. Ninja camps are running at High Impact Martial Arts and Health Studio and they are all about fun for Kindergarten to Year six. Each day is a fun mixture of martial arts, sword and staff training and fun games and activities. These are running both weeks on:

Thursday 13th April – Ninjago & Monday, 24th April – Nerf War

9. Gowrie NSW offers diverse and varied activities by qualified fun educators in their vacation care program across locations:-

10. For your tween/teen, consider booking them into a Feelings Management program running on Wednesday, April 12th and Friday, April 14th from 12-4pm. Feelings management for Kids 12-13 enables kids to learn and apply Feelings Mastery.
This program is activity based in a safe learning environment. Afternoon tea is provided.

14. YogArt (Yoga and Art) is a workshop of healthy fun exploring yoga and art for children and young adults. There are many bennefits of Yoga including strength, co-ordination and stamina as well as learning to be quiet and still. Yoga builds resilience, confidence, focus and a feeling of being energised and grounded. These fun workshops usually run for kids aged 3-6yrs and 7-12yrs at The Yoga Room, Orange. 19. Yogalates sessions are being hosted by Total Health Orange and are running from 11th – 13th April and 18th – 20th April. A combination of pilates, yoga and relaxation techniques which provide many health benefits. Cost is $150 for 3 x 1 hour sessions.   In addition, Total Health Orange are also running Handwriting Heroes programs over the same weeks. 21. The annual Canowindra Balloon Challenge is on during the School Holidays from Wednesday 12th April – Sunday 16th April. This is a magical experience where you’ll see hot air balloons lighting up their burners synced to all new music under the beautiful evening skies in the Central West. The glow from the balloons is spectacular and will leave all who attend with great memories for years to come. Entry is $10 for Adults and $2 for children. Book tickets via website here.
