ABOUT BREAST CANCER
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia.
1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
Approximately 1 in 700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
Approximately 55 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.
In the last 10 years, rates of breast cancer diagnoses have increased by 36%.
This year, it is expected that 9 Australians will die from breast cancer each day.
Without research, 30,000 lives will be lost to breast cancer by 2030.
Since 1994, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer has increased from 76% to 91.5%
The survival rate for metastatic stage IV breast cancer is much lower at 32%.
