Snow Fun at the Pinnacle

It’s bound to snow once a year in Orange, typically during a winter but even in November it’s been sighted. So if you have some energetic young kids there’s really only one place to head – The Pinnacle Stairs. Being above 1000m this site is bound to have luscious amounts of soft snow if there is a dusting in the town. I’d only recommend heading up there with a 4WD capable vehicle. I have seen 2-wheel drive cars nestled in the ditch as they fail to negotiate the slippery uphill roads. Mt Cannobolas is also a great place to head but Cabonne Council close the access roads whenever snow is predicted to ensure there are no serious car crashes or incidents. So don’t head there.

To get there, just take the Pinnacle Rd which is off Racecourse road from downtown. Follow it up and about 15mins from downtown you will see a sign saying Towac/Pinnacle Lookout Walk, it will be on your right.
