Kev’s Fight Against ATRT (Brain Cancer) – published November 9th, 2023

This fundraiser is to support the young family of Greg Treanor, Nicole Unsworth and Kevin Treanor during their fight against ATRT cancer.
Kev is an 11 month old baby boy from Orange NSW, with a laugh and smile that lights up any room he is brought into.
On 26th October 23, Kevin was taken to hospital with loss of balance and vomiting, what was originally a routine trip to the hospital quickly turned into the devastating news that Kev had fluid on his brain and a large brain tumor. He was flown to the Westmead Children’s Hospital where he underwent further testing and brain surgery to remove the brain tumour.
Kevin’s surgery went smoothly however, the biopsy results returned and on 2nd November he was diagnosed with ATRT, a rare form of brain cancer.

If you’d like to help support the family during this very difficult time, we ask you to please consider donating to this GoFundMe.

The Cadia Community Sustainability Network (CCSN) was established by community members to safeguard the economic, social and environmental future of the region.
On Tuesday 25 July 2023, the NSW Upper House announced a Parliamentary Inquiry which will allow our community to present our significant health and environmental concerns in this region.
The Parliamentary Inquiry will investigate “Current and potential impacts of gold, silver, lead and zinc mining on human health, land, air and water quality in New South Wales”. Regulatory decisions about the impact of mining on local communities MUST be based upon medical facts, not a desktop analysis.

Help Teddy become an assistance dog – published July 6, 2023

This fundraiser is for a local Orange man Charles Manning attempting to raise enough money to help his dog Teddy become a fully qualified medical alert, ptsd assistance dog. Charles is a tetraplegic (in between a paraplegic and a quadriplegic. He has zero feeling from his chest down and limited use of his left arm and both hands) and requires alot of assistance. Teddy is an absolute rock star and at 5 months old can already do many of the tasks he is required to learn. Some of the tasks Teddy will be required to do as an AD Dog include; providing pressure therapy to help spasming legs (a side affect off being paralysed) alerting both his handler and his care team of life threatening medical attacks, such as asthma and autonomic dysriflexia. Teddy will also alert when Charles has a PTSD attack to allow him to receive help. Aside from alerting carers, if Charles is alone, Teddy is being trained to push a medi alert button to summon an ambulance. Teddy will be able to open the doors and lead the paramedics directly to Charles. Teddy will also be able to help with daily task; opening doors, retrieving items like shoes/clothing/phone/medicine, opening fridge and bringing water. By having Teddy be a qualified assistance dog who can offer help at a moments notice, this also eliminates the need for Charles to move into a high dependency care home, allowing him to live a more fulfilling life whilst still retaining his autonomy. Teddy has 12 months of training left to complete before he is eligible to sit his PAT test to become an accredited AD Dog. The cost of training for the next 12 months is $15,000. He is humbly asking for help to reach this goal.
