  • Flexible, Casual position based out of Bathurst, however also working in Orange and across the Central West

  • PLEASE NOTE: the successful candidates will be required to work outside of standard business hours, weekends, and public holidays as required, however availability is flexible

About the Organisation 

Fam Connect has three office locations across the Central West and provides various support services to children and young people in Out-Of-Home-Care. 

About the Role

Support Workers provides direct supervision and at times, mentoring to families and children and/or young people with a wide range of responsibility to meet the needs of the family time arrangement, including promotion of a safe environment.

Because of the life experiences and trauma histories that the children and young people we support bring, this role must not only provide adequate safety and supervision but must be actively engaged in building positive relationships and solving problems as part of a team. A high level of resilience is imperative. 

   
Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage children, young people and families in purposeful activities that facilitate connection and the promotion of positive and safe to suit individual needs.
  • Safely and efficiently transport children and young people to and from Family Time.
  • At times where required, mentor and support children or family members to engage in safe and positive interactions, including having the skills and confidence to intervene or redirect less than ideal interactions.
  • Write an accurate and factual account of the Family Time in the form of a professional report, or document outcomes from sessions in formal report writing style.  

Skills & Experience

  • Either hold and maintain; or be actively working towards a relevant qualification in a youth, family, behavioural, education or community services sector. 
  • Valid unrestricted Australian drivers’ licence.
  • Valid Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification.
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold experience with relating to children and young people who display behaviours that challenge.
