Lisa Miller

Mother of three children, one who has suffered a stroke

  1. Lisa is a public school teacher that is devoted to her students, and the small school community.  She volunteers for many extra activities such as dancing, netball.  She supports her student in education and wellbeing.
  2. Lisa is a mother to three children.  Her daughter recently had a stroke and her whole world changed.  4 months on she is managing her daughters rehab and offering her opportunities to participate in many "normal" activities, playing netball, (while Lisa holds her in a brace), swimming - her siblings swim with one arm to even the out the physical challenges.
  3. The positivity of her daily attitude when she has had a lot of knocks, the resilience to keep going and be positive for her family is inspiration.
  4. Lisa is adored and loved by many people and in her time of need she had a strong community around her.  This is because she has constantly given, been thoughtful to others throughout her whole life.

I have watched this lady gracefully deal with a medical event that has changed her family forever with grace and dignity.  She would give before she took and that is the reason I think she should be nominated Mum of the Year.  For her professional contribution to education and for being the most decent human being to all those around her. She has recently raised over 10K for Ronald McDonald (Westmead) which the whole family contributed to the fundraising event.
