Carwoola garden in Orange

Originally a run-down garden situated on the sloping one-acre block, the Swifts for the last seven years have been single-handedly designing and creating a formal cool climate estate garden to showcase the original 1920s weatherboard house. The garden now includes two formal terraced areas edged with perennial borders and backdrops of native grasses.

Other features include a courtyard that was inspired by a trip to Italy and France and creates an aromatic entertaining area. Over 50 camelias have been planted along their shady northern boundary interspersed with rhododendrons and azaleas. Natives have been planted to attract bird life. Four vegie and cut flower garden beds complete the one-acre garden area.
