The Yoga Room Orange

Our mission is to teach yoga in a way that is accessible to all ages and abilities.  We encourage our students to work at their own pace, according to their level of experience, and always being mindful of their body.  Regular practice of yoga supports physical, mental and emotion health.  We want everybody to have the opportunity to experience the amazing benefits Yoga has to offer to create a happy and healthy life.

The Practice of yoga is an ancient art and science that is primarily focused on bringing the mind to silence.  It helps us find a peaceful state in the busy world we live in. It is about living in the present and not getting caught up with what has already happened, or what may lie ahead.

The Yoga Room opened its doors in 1997 and since that time has  grown alongside the Orange yoga community.  We offer classes for beginners as well as experienced yoga practitioners.

The method of Yoga we teach at The Yoga Room is Iyengar Yoga.  Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga because it uses the yoga poses, applied to the physical body, as a way of studying the self.  It is said that Yoga is done by the body, with the breath and for the mind.   In this sense, Yoga is a wholistic practice.
Classes at The Yoga Room emphasise building a strong foundation at the Beginner Level.  We place importance on posture and correct alignment of the physical body, but emphasise that Yoga is not just a physical endeavour.  We acknowledge that when we step onto the mat, we bring with us the events of the day, our thoughts, expectations and desires.  A yoga practice teaches us that when we put aside our external concerns, we are free to be present and fully absorbed in that moment.  The practice of coming back to the present moment brings a sense of peace, stability and a fresh perspective on life.

We offer the following class levels:  Beginner; Developing; and Established.  To assist students to deepen their understanding of the subject of Yoga, we offer workshops in a range of areas including women’s yoga, relaxation, breath work and starting a home practice.

We also offer online streaming of our Kids Yoga Stories led by Fiona Hawke, who conducts StoryTime at the Orange Library.    Kids Yoga Stories are educational and fun and aimed at children between 3 and 7 yrs.  They can be accessed through our booking system on the website and streamed at any time during the booking period.  They are ideal for school holiday activities.
All teachers at The Yoga Room are certified Iyengar Yoga teachers or teachers in training in the Iyengar Yoga method.  We are always happy to help new students start their yoga journey and deepen their understanding of how Yoga can help negotiate life and support physical, mental and emotional health through regular practice.

Bookings for our classes can be made on line through our website.  We are also happy for students to email ahead and advise they are coming to class if booking online isn't a possibility.

We welcome new students at any time into our yoga community and we love seeing our students learn and progress along the yoga path.  As the owner of  The Yoga Room I wholeheartedly believe that Yoga is a wonderful tool to find balance, perspective and peace in daily life.  I would love to help you start your yoga journey or reignite your passion for yoga.

I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
