The Regional Development Australia 2024 ‘Central West is Best’ photo competition

The Regional Development Australia ‘Central West is Best’ Photo Competition is back in 2024!  This year there is a ‘mini’ category for your little ones to enter their photographs. Grab your camera or smartphone and get snapping with the kids this school holidays.

The theme this year is ‘Location, Location, Location’, and RDA Central West want to see photos that capture what makes the Central West a standout destination to live, work, and visit or the perfect movie set. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape, a vibrant community event, a hidden gem of a place, or a local character that embodies the spirit of our region, RDA would love to see your children’s photographs of why the Central West is the place to be.  Imagine your child’s photo being the inspiration for a movie!

Entrants can submit up to four photos, whether they’re brand new or taken in the past, as long as they showcase the unique charm of the Central West.

To enter, you simply have to:

• Submit a photo (up to four) that highlights the Central West region at its best.
• In a few sentences, tell us why your chosen location epitomises the theme ‘Location, Location, Location’.

RDA Central West are challenging you and your children to highlight the beauty and vibrancy of our region, offering a glimpse into what makes the Central West an amazing place, not only for locals but also for visitors who may not yet know all we have to offer. And who knows—your submission might just catch a filmmaker’s eye searching for their next big setting!

Entry is free and open to all ages and photographic abilities, as long as you reside in the Central West. Whether you’re an amateur photographer or a seasoned pro, we encourage you to share your perspective and help us celebrate the incredible locations that make our region special.

Categories & Prizes

• There are three categories: Mini (10yo and under), Junior (18yo and under) and Open (over 18yo)
• Open Category: First place $750 + Reloader 35mm camera. Second Place $250 + Reloader 35mm camera.
• Junior Category: First place $350 + Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 camera. Second place: $150 + Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 camera.
• Mini Category: First place Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Bundle. Second place Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 camera.
