Behavioural Optometry – What is it?

Nick Hansen is a third generation optometrist. His main interest has been in Behavioural Optometry and the treatment of children with strabismus (eye turn), amblyopia (lazy eye) and visually related learning disabilities.  In this area, he has published numerous papers and spoken at various Optometric and Educational Courses both Nationally and Internationally as well as lecturing in the postgraduate Optometry Masters Course UNSW.

He is a Past- President of Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists and was elected the first Chairman of the Intercontinental Federation for Behavioural Optometry (IFBO).

Hansen Optometrists is the oldest independent practice in Australia. It has been serving the people of the Central West since 1886.

The Hansen optometrists have won numerous local Business Awards for service and excellence including a NSW Government Business Award and the Eyecare Plus Award for the Outstanding Practice.
