One local Central West resident Samantha Smith has raised $3,734 in honour of Isabel with her garden raffle which is such a fantastic effort.

‘I felt quite overwhelmed by the generosity of my family, friends and local community. We raised so much more money than I thought we would and I know all the funds raised will help TSA with their work supporting families like ours living with TSC. Supporting TSA’s fundraising events like comedy for a cure happening this Saturday night is another great way people can make a difference. It’s an online event so we can watch some great comedy from the comfort of our home, while having lots of laughs. It’s such an easy and fun way we can all help children and families impacted by TSC. I’d love to encourage people to buy a ticket to the event, it’ll be a great show’

Thousands of families are significantly affected by a rare and devastating disease called tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Life during COVID-19 has been even tougher than usual for them as their special needs school and disability support workers have been unavailable. Even though living with TSC during a global pandemic is no laughing matter, our TSC families are helping to create a virtual Comedy for a Cure fundraising event to help other families facing similar challenges of life with TSC.

On Saturday 30th October 2021 a hilarious line up of comedians from the Melbourne and Sydney International comedy festivals, will put on a night of laughter and hope while raising vital funds to help Australians living with TSC. The goal is to raise $20,000 to ensure children and adults living with TSC across Australia have access to ground-breaking new treatments and research that are taking us closer to a cure for this devastating disease.

Why we need your support? TSA have a plan to support an upcoming research project focusing on early intervention to improve outcomes for infants with TSC. While TSC is no laughing matter, Comedy for a Cure will harness the power of laughter to raise critical funds that will help to improve the lives of each of the 50 n babies who will be born with TSC this year in Australia.
