Celebrate local bestselling author Kelly Rimmer’s latest novel The German Wife at Cowra Library’s Up Late event on Thursday 16 June from 5pm – 7pm.
The German Wife is an unputdownable novel of a community torn apart when a former Nazi family moves into town to work on NASA’s space program. Inspired by a true story, Operation Paperclip is a US intelligence program in which more than 1700 German scientists, engineers, technicians and their families were taken from Nazi Germany to the US for government employment after the end of World War II, between 1945 and 1959.
The German Wife explores how the German and American residents so recently on opposite sides of an horrific war were now neighbours and colleagues. This novel wonders what would happen if a spark was thrown into that tinderbox.
