Blayney Veterinary Hospital

Blayney Veterinary Hospital

BlayneyVets offers the Orange Blayney Bathurst region full veterinary services based from our veterinary hospital in Blayney. Behind the historic 1885 facade is a large modern veterinary hospital - including the latest extension completed in 2020 with the new operating suite .

We have  three consultation rooms to ensure vets have time and space to spend on each and every case. We have invested in the latest radiology equipment, ultrasounds, anaesthetic equipment, animal and air warming machines. We have a dedicated laboratory and run most of our blood tests in house but can send samples to Sydney and have results the next day. Specialists are available to us to review radiographs or blood results . We do a great deal of surgery.... Orthopaedics and surgery  of companion animals are our particular interest areas . Dr Howard Thompson has done more than 160 "TPLO"  surgeries in the last 4 years and assists many other veterinarians with cruciate disease surgery and repair of broken bones . We fix broken bones of dogs weighing just 1.5 kilos and dogs weighing 85 kilo. Dr Will Berry has completed post grad training in surgery and  has been assisting Howard for those surgeries. Dr Will does many fracture repairs also. Dr Joanne Cheney carries out extensive complicated soft tissue surgeries while being a senior experienced  veterinarian in all species. Dr Penny Ovenstone works across all species  but has a deep affection for cattle and horses. Dr Lyndsay Dean is a major small animal medicine and surgery veterinarian with particular interests in exotics and natives and cattle. Dr Ruth Thompson has a particular interest in skin diseases while Dr Maddi Sparkes  is involved in all the practice has to offer.

We have a barn at the back of the practice [ we easy parking for trucks] with a horse crush for scanning mares or doing dentals in horses or examining alpacas.

All seven vets are skilled in differing areas and work together as a team.

Of course the hospital serves as a base for veterinarians to do on farm visits for pregnancy testing, bull testing, horse castrations.

We are here to offer you the best veterinary medicine and surgery we possibly can for all the fluffy and furred members in your life.
